5 apples, cored, peeled, and sliced
1 cup sugar
1/4 cup cornstarch
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/2 cup water
3/4 cup apple juice or apple cider
2 tablespoons lemon juice
